As a physical therapist, I have had to balance my desire to help each of my patients reach their goals with the realities of a demanding workload. Having become frustrated with spending valuable treatment time searching for, photocopying, and drawing exercise diagrams that patients often lost, I decided that it was time to get out of the box.

goPT exists to empower physical therapists and their patients with innovative tools to achieve optimal outcomes in physical performance and rehabilitation. We are committed to the ongoing development of new ways to free up time for therapists while improving patient care through quality, on-demand exercise instruction.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the asterisks beside some FAQs?**

The double asterisks indicate that the question applies to both the Professional version of goPT and the Personal version (mygoPT).

What is the difference between Professional and Personal Subscriptions?**

The Professional version of goPT is designed for physical therapists, physicians, physician assistants, and personal trainers to be able to design protocols and progress exercise programs for individual patients. Healthcare professionals will be able to access and update all patient programs within their clinic.

The Personal version of goPT is a condensed program that allows individuals to search the entire video library and to design personal exercise programs. With mygoPT, created programs can be used to prevent and recover from injuries, enhance fitness, and as an educational resource for students in healthcare fields.

*goPT strongly recommends that you consult with a medical healthcare provider prior to beginning any exercise regime.

**A double asterisk at the end of a FAQ indicates that this question applies to both the Professional and Personal versions of goPT. If there is no asterisk, the question applies to the Professional version of goPT.

How do I find a patient’s program?

Log in and then click on the “All Patients” tab and use the search tool to locate your patient.  Click on their name to view or modify their program.  If you evaluated the patient their name will also appear under the “My Patients” tab.

What is the difference between the “My Patients” and the “All Patients” tabs?

The “MY PATIENTS” tab will show all of the patients that you evaluated and signed up for goPT.  This will allow you to keep in contact and monitor the patients you evaluated.

The “ALL PATIENTS” tab will show all of the patients being treated within your clinic.  Use the search tool to locate the patient you are treating, and click on their name to modify or add to their exercise program.

How do I add exercises to a patient’s program?**

First select the desired patient. Then simply click on the Add button under the video in the “Video Library” column on the left to move it to the “Patient Program” column on the right.  You can also drag and drop the exercise if using a laptop or desktop computer.

How do I search for exercises?**

You can do this in a couple of different ways.

You can select a body region to reduce the results that appear in the four category tabs (Orthopedic, Strengthening, Sport Specific, and Flexibility); or you can choose to filter through the entire library by not selecting a body region.

If you are not sure how the exercise is categorized, use the “Search All” category tab which filters through all four categories.

Simply type in the first few letters of the exercise in the “Video Library” search box to begin filtering through the library. Exercises have been coded to appear for a broad range of terms. (Example: Biceps Curl would appear if any of the following terms were typed in the search box: biceps, curl, shoulder, elbow, arm, flexion, weight, tubing, band, resistance.)

If you know that the exercise you are looking for is listed in one of your protocols; select that protocol from the tab above. Once selected, the protocol will now appear in the left “Video Library” column.  Search through the protocol until you find your exercise, add it to your patient’s program, and then select the stop working with protocol option above to return to the video library.

Why is there a search box under the “Patient Program” column?**

If your patient has numerous exercises, or if you are seeing the patient for the first time, it may save you time to quickly search for specific exercises prior to adding new ones.

How do I select exercises as favorites?**

Highlight the star located by each exercise to select it as one of your favorites.  Click the Show Only My Favorites box, to have only your selected exercises  appear  in the “Video Library” category tabs.

How do I save a patient’s program as a protocol?

If  you create an exercise program that you would like to save as a protocol,  click the Save as Protocol button at the bottom of the patient’s program page.  This protocol will now appear in the “My Protocols” tab.

Can the information for one exercise be applied to all exercises within a program?**

Yes. If you have common reps, sets, hold times, etc., for multiple exercises, fill in the information for one video and select Copy to All. This information will then be propagated into all video fields and you can then change whichever exercises it doesn’t apply to.

How do I request an exercise?

Click on the “Contact Us” tab at the top of the website and fill out the “Feedback” form.  We will do our best to promptly add the exercise.

What if my patient does not use the Internet?

Select the “Print” option at the bottom of your patient’s program. This will print the name, picture, and instructional text for each exercise, along with associated reps, sets, notes, etc. that you have prescribed. This can be given to your patient and printed as a hard copy for the chart if necessary.

How do therapists within a clinic gain access to the site?

The therapist who initially signs up for goPT becomes the manager of the website. This therapist has an additional page on the website, allowing the invitation of additional therapists within the clinic.  Once the invited therapists creates a password, he or she will have full access to the site.

Does the individual signing up for goPT have to be a physical therapist?

No. The individual signing up for goPT is automatically given the role as manager of the website and is designated as one of the 3 therapists under the subscription. However, the manager could also be a physician, physician assistant, or personal trainer.

Can the manager role for the website be transfered to a different therapist within my clinic?

Yes. The manager has the capability of adding and deleting therapists from the clinic’s account, but is not able to designate a different manager. Please contact goPT at admin@gopt.com in order to designate a different therapist within your clinic as the manager of your site.

What happens when a therapist leaves the clinic?

The manager of the website needs to go to the “Manage Therapists” tab and delete the therapist from the account.   This will automatically free up a space for another therapist to be added.

What can my patient expect when I add them as a new patient?

After filling out the “add patient” form, your patient will immediately receive an email welcoming them to goPT and allowing them to create their password.  Once they create their password, they will have access to the exercises you have prescribed for them.  Please feel free to add a note to the patient to personalize their welcome.

What will my patients see when they login to goPT?

Your patients will be able to see all of the exercise videos you have added to their program.  They will also be able to see the prescription data (frequency, repetitions, resistance) and the additional notes you have added for each specific exercise.

How do I know if my patient has logged on to goPT?

Look under the “STATUS” column on the main page. You will see the Active, Inactive, or Invited.

An Active patient has logged on to goPT, an Inactive patient has gone beyond their 90 day access and has not been renewed, and an Invited patient has not yet activated their account.

What if my patient never received an email from goPT?

This would mean that either the email went spam or trash, or that you entered an incorrect email.  Check the email address with your patient and click resend next to the patient’s name if the address is correct.

If the address is incorrect, you will have to create a new account for this patient, using the correct email address, and reassign any exercises you have prescribed.

How long does my patient have access to goPT?

Each patient has access to goPT for 90 days; beginning from when you add them as a new patient.  You can extend their membership by 60-day increments while you’re still treating the patient.  Please be sure to delete your patient’s account once they have been discharged.

How do I extend access for my patient?

The “REMAINING” column shows how many days your patient has left with goPT. When your patient falls below 10 days, their name will appear in a pop-up window when you log in.  Click on the renew button in the “MANAGE” Column to extend their access for 60 additional days.

What if I forget to add time to my patient’s account?

You will be given 10 additional days from when your patient’s account reaches 0 days to add time to their account.  Beyond this, your patient’s account will be automatically deleted and you would have to enter them back in as a new patient. Their exercise program will not be saved.

What if I expect my patient to return for therapy (ex: pre- and post-surgery cases)?

If you know that your patient will return for therapy, you can save their exercise program as a protocol.  This will allow you to easily re-apply it to your patient when they return.

Why would I need to delete a patient’s account?

A patient’s goPT account is linked to their email address.  If they leave your clinic and seek treatment at another clinic, that therapist will not be able to use goPT to assign exercises until the  patient’s account has been deleted at your clinic.

Please help your patients receive optimal care and avoid therapist confusion by deleting their accounts when they are no longer under your care.

Can a patient delete their own account?

No.  If a patient would like to cancel their account they need to send an email request to admin@gopt.com and we will delete it for them. This will allow them to have a new account opened at a different clinic.

Can additional therapists be added after signing up with goPT?

Yes. If you have already signed up for a subscription, and then need to add more therapists, please contact goPT at sales@gopt.com and we will take care of it for you.

Can a membership be canceled?**

No. Please take advantage of our Free 30-Day Clinic Trial prior to signing up to be sure that goPT is right for your clinic.

*The personal version of goPT (mygoPT) does not offer a free trial and does not allow for cancellation of a subscription.

What payment options are available?**

goPT currently uses PayPal for all payment methods.  If you prefer to pay with a check, please contact sales@goPT.com for further instructions.

What happens if the clinic account expires?

We understand that life is busy.  We will send you an email prior to your account’s expiration and will keep your account open for one week after your subscription period has ended.  Upon renewal, your subscription period will begin from the day that your account expired.
